Yu Weiyue leads delegation from Department of Teacher Affairs at Ministry of Education to Nanjing University

On June 17, Yu Weiyue, Director of the Department of Teacher Affairs at the Ministry of Education visited Nanjing University to conduct a symposium on teachers' qualifications and developement. Gu Yuehua, Deputy Director of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education; Chen Yunsong, Deputy Chair of NJU CPC Council; and Zheng Hairong, Vice President of NJU and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences attended the symposium.

Yu Wei Yue emphasized that the pilot reform of teachers' qualification and development for elementary education is a key measure to implement the fundamental task for the construction of a strong educational nation. Specifically, it is essential to strengthen STEM curriculum development, integrate AI technology, and cultivate innovative thinking among students from normal universities to prepare a batch of "seed teachers" for nurturing top-notch innovative talents in elementary education. He raised major issues to be addressed in order to advance the reform. He highly praised NJU's innovative practices in the pilot reform and hoped that NJU would make representative achievements, strengthen the capacity for teacher education, actively participate in international research on teacher education, and accelerate innovation in the teacher education mechanism.

This symposium clarified the direction for NJU to advance the construction of the teacher education capacity enhancement project. The University will continue to focus on innovating the training model for top-notch innovative talent faculty, contributing to the construction of a teacher education system with Chinese characteristics.

Leaders of NJU's relevant departments and representatives from Southeast University, Nanjing Normal University, Soochow University, Nanjing Special Education Normal College, Nanjing Xiaozhuang College, and Nanjing University of Technology, attended the meeting.
